Extend you summer!

In 2009. Campo is offering two guided sea kayaking tours in Adriatics, both in Croatia. The first one - for the seasoned kayakers, second - with a bit easier course, for advancing beginners a and folks who would like to put more effort on relaxed leasure than the paddling alone.  One sea - two routes - choose on your taste!

1. Krk - Cres - Raba

This route is developed for paddling enthusiasts who like and is capable to cope with a certain kind of sea features - some wind, extended open sea crossings, waves - up to 1.5m or so. This route is subject to change according to actual weather conditions, so nobody can tell now how the route will be scheduled from campsite to campsite, but the general and planned track is on the schema below here:

We start at the Senj city (alternative - Krk city at the south-west of Krk island) and will make 140-170km in a 6 active days. The most extended crossing over the not sheltered sea area will be arround 18km.

In this route you'll find a broad variety of Dalmatian seaside landscape - a rocky coastlines, beautiful beaches, a biologically rich southern part of the island Cres, a Dolphin whatching area and the classic culture tourism citadel - the Rab island - almost everything of the "must-see" from Adriatic's nothern part what could fit into 170km and 6-day resource.

Expected air temperature in area +25°C, water temperature +24°C.

Capabilities and experience. The route isn't short. Participants should be able to paddle 30km a day ±10km, depending on weather conditions. The previous experience is must.

Boats: single or tandem sea kayaks. Own or rented. No SOT or alike dummy boats.

Scheduled dates: August 21st (departure) - August 30 (arrival).

Costs

Participation fee is 890.- LTL (500 LTL, if you join with your own transport);

Included: Bus rental, instructor work and management, safety gear (group gear), maps, navigation aids, pots, burners etc.

Not included, but one should expect:

The variable transport cost (bus passengers) - fuel, pay road fees, parking - this all is to be shared between participants - approx. 470-490 LTL;

Food to be carried ~100 LTL;

Food to be bought on site (drinking water etc.) ~100 LTL;

Kayak and gear rentals - according to http://www.campo.laivas.lv/lv/noma/?pg=inventars

2. Kornati 2009

A classical Kornati sea-kayaking tour. We organize this tour every year since 2006. and it is a hot-hit every time. If you wish to extend your summer holiday, this is for you. The route is shorter than one described above (100km in 5 active days) and open sea crossings are shorter and thus safer. The route is more sheltered, so big wave game will not be present almost for sure, however you need to have a minor previous experience (see requirements and options below).

The route schema is shown on the left. We start in Murter city and circumnavigating the Kornat archipelago (clockwise or counterclockwise - depending on weather forecast).

Kornat is the national park, so the camping is fairly limited to few places legally and few places at all due to actual situation - a sharp limestone coastline make camping a real challenge here. So there might be an extra camping expanse at the island's "Robinson" houses - if we gona be there and manage to get one as they are pretty bussy even in this season.

Air temperature for the region at this time is expected to be arround +20-23°C, water temperature +23°C.

Scheduled dates: August 28th (departure) - September 7th (arrival).

Rent of the Robinson house on Kornat island (if group decide so - this is a pretty expansive option, however a fresh water shower and a possibility to charge your cameras may pay off) ~250-300 LTL

Kayak and gear rentals - according to http://www.campo.laivas.lv/lv/noma/?pg=inventars

Capabilities and experience. This is a leasure route, however you have to be comfortable in paddling a sea kayak - a basic paddling, steering and bracing strokes shouldn't be a problem for you. The loads won't be too big - 15-20km a day is usual and it take 3-5 hours to complete every day. For less experienced and we suggest considering a tandem kayak.

Every year we take also beginners to this route (up to 30% of the group), but we ask them to complete the training session with Campo - to spend at least 5 summer evenings on flat water in supervised learning + one day wave clinic in seaside. If your performance after this will be acceptable, you could go with us.

Training sessions. Every summer Campo hold a number of training sessions for sea kayakers. Usually these events are hold in the afternoon in working days of the week, so we realize nobody from Lithuania will be able to participate. But there also will be a 3-day sea-kayak training camp in July in Latvia, so if you'll decide to participate - contact us by phone (+371-2-9222339) or e-mail. Information will be placed on klubas.lt page as well.

Bonus trek: "Venice"

After the Kornati trip there is an option we offer to all participants - on the way home to take some extra km and visit Venice (Italy). Having our kayaks wits us make us able to explore this beautiful city from the water. Of course this involve some cost - extra day and km to drive, but most people consider this to be attractive. Take a look at our last year's voyage down the Venice channels in this video:
